Being a servant is a person who performs duties for others or someone who is a devoted and helpful follower/supporter. Being a servant is a condition of your heart. You can be a giver, but not be a servant. But you can’t be a servant and not be a giver.

“If you want to be important—wonderful. If you want to be recognized—wonderful. If you want to be great—wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That's a new definition of greatness. By giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don't have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don't have to know Einstein's theory of relativity to serve. You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love. And you can be that servant.”

-       Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (Mark 10:35)

Now let’s change that quote and replace the word serve/servant to give/giver.

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 KJV | God loves a cheerful giver.

A giver is a person who gives something. We all have something to give. We all have something to share. Something that we can impart to another individual. We can all be givers! REMEMBER: servants are givers, but givers are not necessarily servants.

1 Kings 17:1-24 (Listen below for the full story of giving).

Here are 7 tips on How To Give Without Using Money

1)    Send handwritten notes and thank you cards to the local hospitals or urgent care. If you have paper and pen in your home, you can make your own authentic notes.

2)    Pray for local businesses. Pray for small businesses that they’ll prosper during this time.

3)    Contact your local police or fire department. Give them some individually wrapped snacks or thank you cards.

4)    Leave baskets of water and snacks at the mailbox. Allow your mail delivery service an opportunity to refresh after a busy day.

5)    Contact a local nursing home. See if you can drop off some candy canes or cards.

6)    Pray for our leaders. Whether it’s your government leaders, church leaders, or a leader in your life, pray over these individuals. (1 Timothy 2:1-3)

7)    Embrace and operate in the fruit of the spirit. This is something you can do for yourself. Give the gift of kindness! (Galatians 5:22-26)
