All people in this world will experience challenges and problems, but in Jesus we can have peace! Tribulations are a real part of living in this world. Believers can win and can overcome any problem that we face if we respond properly.

The foundation of the Believer’s victory is 2-fold:
1) The finished works of Christ
2) The Word of God

Luke 4:46-49 | Isaiah 43:2 – when you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

The Good news of the Gospel is not we will never have problems. The Good news of the Gospel is that we in Christ, we always win.

Why do tragedies happen?

1.     Human sin – this does not concern things that God influences. Human sin is not God-influenced (Genesis 6:5). Humans NOT God commit murder, rape, robbery, abuse (verbal, psychological, sexual) slavery, sex slaves, human trafficking, etc. Let’s stop blaming God for what man does.

2.     Human error – this is not God-initiated. For example, if a driver falls asleep while at the wheel and causes an accident or if someone fails to turn off the oven and stove, and the house catches on fire. We should not blame God for what man does. It becomes difficult to run to God if we think He is the Source of our pain.

3.     Direct satanic involvement – this is initiated through satan (John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8, Luke 13:11-16, Matthew 27:5). In John 13:2, satan put it in Judas heart to betray Jesus. It’s also important to understand that suicide is not natural. God has placed a desire to live and survive in the inside of each person. We should not blame God for what the devil does.

4.     The curse – the curse came into the earth because of the disobedience and the fall of man. Here’s what the curse involves:

a.     Spiritual death
b.     Physical death
c.     Sickness
d.     Birth defects
e.     Infirmities of the flesh
f.      Poverty (God never intended for man to be in any type of want)
g.     Adverse effects on nature (i.e. tornadoes, hurricanes, rooting fruit, etc.)

There are things happening in this world that God didn’t intend. There are natural factors that cause adverse weather conditions. Sometimes storms are caused by direct satanic involvement (Mark 4:37-39). When the Bible says that Jesus rebuked the wind, it is saying that Jesus recognized that there was a demonic force behind the wind, and Jesus told it to stop.
